Zero-Backend Audio Architecture: Procedural Sound Synthesis in the Modern Browser

How MURMURFIELD uses Web Audio API, dynamic biquad filtering, and zero network requests to deliver sustainable, private soundscapes.

Traditional white noise and ambient applications transmit megabytes of compressed MP3 or AAC loops across cloud content delivery networks. This model generates continuous server bandwidth costs, drains battery life through network radios, and risks streaming interruptions during intermittent connectivity.

MURMURFIELD implements a purely client-side procedural synthesis model. When you open the studio, mathematical algorithms instantiate AudioBuffer nodes filled with Gaussian and Brownian random distributions, shaped in real-time through interconnected Web Audio BiquadFilter, Gain, and DynamicsCompressor nodes.

Because everything is computed in hardware-accelerated audio threads inside your local browser, zero audio packets leave or enter your machine. Once loaded, MURMURFIELD works completely offline, requires zero Cloudflare computational workers, preserves total user privacy, and creates infinitely non-repeating acoustic environments without looping seams.
